Iron Bowl (ALA 39-33-1) Alabama 23 @ Auburn 17 – In traditional with Black Friday the main course will be served before all the appetizers today. Auburn will be able to move the ball, but the Tide defense will prove too tough and Mark Ingram too consistent.

divine Divine Predictions – Week 4

Nebraska 23 at Mizzou 21 – Let’s get frisky! Corn Nation and Rock M Nation are betting taglines on the outcome. Orson has this bitch factored and it’s not not looking good for the Huskers or, well, maybe it is… I like Nebraska because I saw man-child Roy Helu Jr. conquer the souls of eleven Virginia Tech defenders almost three weeks ago.

Auburn 38 at Arkansas 31 – It’s goin’ be a shootout in Fayetteville. I give the edge to Auburn because they can put up points, and they’ll play better defense.

Tony Franklin paints the Auburn front-office in a rosy shade of dysfunction. Josh Moon’s six page interview with the now offensive coordinator for Middle Tennessee State is a must read. One of the more interesting pieces of the story is this:

“That’s all they do is pray — and talk about praying and religion,” Franklin said. “It’s a constant thing with them, and it’s just overwhelming at times. A lot of people use religion as a crutch, and I think that’s the case there. Every word coming out of their mouths is something about religion, and most of it is just a joke.”

“When you talk about your religion so much, it comes off as fake or phony. That’s the way I think of several of those people (at Auburn) as fake.”

So they’re those people.

Michigan will hold onto the Little Brown Jug for at least 2 more years.

Cal is charging $225K for the right to buy its seats between the 30-yard lines on the stadium’s west side.

Of the 3,000 seats, there are 144 priced at $225,000, and 115 of them already have been sold, with several fans already writing checks for $900,000, which buys four seats in what is being called the University Club section. Membership benefits include 50-year rights to the seat, including season tickets, on-campus parking on game days, free food and drinks, including beer and wine, cup holders and other perks.

Cal is passing around the collection plate to renovate Memorial Stadium and make it seismically stable.

You can hate us now, but we won’t stop now, the Orlando Sentinel’s 12 teams we love to hate. We’d nix BYU and South Florida in favor of Texas and Texas Tech.

Iron Bowl to be Played Under Friday Night Lights

For the next two seasons the Auburn Alabama game, one of college footballs biggest rivalries, will be played on Friday night.

CBS Sports said Friday that it will televise the next two Alabama-Auburn football games nationally. The games will be moved to Friday on the last weekend of the Southeastern Conference’s regular season schedule.

Next season’s game will kick off at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 27 at Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium. The 2010 game will be played on Friday, Nov. 26 at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.

I like this move because the Iron Bowl is a 60 minute hate fest that leaves all players involved bloody and bruised. Because of this it should stand out more nationally than other rivalries. Making it the centerpiece of post Thanksgiving Day football is a great way to bring more attention to the game. Also, I am getting tired of watching Texas versus Texas A&M.

Plus this news gives me an excuse to post this picture. Is there any girl at Alabama that can beat her? Probably not.

Fuck You Blacksburg. News out of the motherland could not have been worse over the last couple of days.  On Tuesday 4 star QB Kevin Newsome chose to watch JoePa die slow play for Penn State over Virginia Tech. After Pat Devlin transfered Newsome would only have to wait one year to start at PSU and that was the major selling point. In Tyrod we trust, but a backup plan would be nice.  I never thought I would cite her but Heather Dinich reports Jim Weaver has put the kibosh on a head coach in waiting plan for Bud Foster.

“I’ve talked to our president, and I’ve talked to coach [Frank] Beamer and we see the coach-in-waiting concept as something that’s viable for a year, maybe a maximum of two years if you know there’s going to be transition, but coach Beamer could be here another eight, 10, 12 years and we just don’t think that’s the kind of arrangement we want to have with that kind of tenure still possible,” Weaver said.

I don’t think I can handle Beamer’s “put friends in high places” approach to staffing decisions into my late 30s.

Watching this video made me feel a little better.

Now that Michigan Defensive Coordinator Scott Shafer has been Tony Franklinned who are his potential replacements?

Auburn booster places $5,100,000 call. Read this for yourself and formulate your own opinion as to how valid it may be.  Winfield has heard the same rumor. He lives in the south so maybe there is some truth to it…

Sam Bradford’s girlfriend is hot. That is all.

Auburn hired Gene Chizik. Wait What?

chiziktuberville Auburn hired Gene Chizik. Wait What?

Auburn has hired Iowa State’s Gene Chizik to replace fired Coach Tommy Tuberville.

I am just going to shit all over Auburn right now, a school I no longer respect.  Could you’ve fucked up more by replacing Tuberville, who led the Tigers to an 85-40 record (7-3 against Alabama), with Gene Chizik. Nope, this is definitely the Holy Grail of coaching fuck ups. Congratulations, you’ve just ceded control of the state of Alabama to that other school in Tuscaloosa.

Update: After the jump, watch a video of Auburn fans heckling athletic director Jay Jacobs at the airport. Continue Reading “Auburn hired Gene Chizik. Wait What?” »

Muschamp to Auburn

Fox 10 News is reporting that Will Muschamp will be announced as the new head coach of Auburn University sometime today. By accepting the position he proves this “Head Coach in Waiting” phenomenon is a fucking joke.
