1 Florida arrow up Week Thirteen BlogPoll and Mumme Poll Ballots 2 Florida was the only one of the “Big Three” to handle their rival, albeit the ‘Noles had to travel to The Swamp. Alabama took every punch Gus Malzahn and Auburn threw. Jerrod Johnson had his way with the Texas defense.

4 TCU Statistic that means absolutely nothing: TCU looked more impressive in their win over Wyoming than Texas did.
5 Georgia Tech Begun, hate week has.
6 Cincinnati If Oregon State wins the Pac-10 Cincinnati’s resume is going to be baller.
7 Boise State Watched Boise St trounce Utah St and the big take away was WAC commissioner Karl Benson annoying the shit out of me.
8 Oregon Roses are at stake in the Civil War.
9 Ohio State What were those zone read plays run by tOSU? They looked sexy.

13 Oklahoma State arrow up Week Twelve BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 1 Their best win is at home over Texas Tech by 7 and their in contention for a BCS at large… I hope the Sooners curb stomp them.

15 Penn State arrow up Week Twelve BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 4
16 North Carolina arrow up Week Twelve BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 4 Still have them ahead of the Hokies because of 1) head-to-head 2) just as impressively beating the teams we beat.
17 Virginia Tech arrow up Week Twelve BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 4 Congratulations to Williams and Grimm, who should be our offensive and defensive MVPs.

Week Eleven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots

Rank Team Delta Intellectuals*
1 Alabama arrow up Week Eleven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 2 Waxed Mississippi State
2 Texas Waxed Baylor
3 Florida arrow down Week Eleven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 2 Beat an above average USC, will wax Florida International.
4 TCU Wouldn’t roll over to any of the “big three”.
5 Georgia Tech Thrashed Duke to lock up the ACC Coastal.
6 Cincinnati Tony Pikes came off the bench to throw two touchdowns. Still perfect, Oregon State win is looking better, but overall looking less impressive.
7 Boise State Putting 63 on Idaho was impressive, but Nevada threw up 70 on them.
8 Oregon
9 Ohio State arrow up Week Eleven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 1 Once again they’re the class of the Big Ten, and thank God they don’t have to play USC again.
10 Pittsburgh arrow up Week Eleven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 1 Wanstache
11 LSU arrow up Week Eleven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 3 Struggled with Louisiana Tech and move up because of losses above them. What SEC team will Derek Dooley coach?
12 Stanford arrow up Week Eleven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 12 In the last two weeks they’ve hung half a hundred on Oregon and USC.
13 Clemson arrow up Week Eleven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 5 Don’t fuck up against Virginia.
14 Oklahoma State arrow up Week Eleven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 5 Held Texas Tech to a season low 17 points.
15 Iowa arrow down Week Eleven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 3 I Didn’t like Ferentz siting on the ball tied at 24 with 0:52 left. Take at least ONE chance and try to make something happen. Still, they’re a pretty good football team taking tOSU to overtime in the Shoe with their backup quarterback.
16 Wisconsin arrow up Week Eleven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 4 John Clay is quietly becoming that next Badger running back.
17 Southern Cal arrow down Week Eleven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 8 They reloaded, but you cannot recruit experience and for right now that’s the only thing holding the Trojans back.
18 Oregon State
19 Penn State arrow up Week Eleven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 4
20 North Carolina Absolutely shocked at the resiliency the Tar Heels have shown after losing to FSU at home three weeks ago.
21 Virginia Tech arrow up Week Eleven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 4 Is your offense constipated? Then try all organic Maryland, now with more herbals.
22 Brigham Young Outside beating Oklahoma, they haven’t done much.
23 Miami (Florida) arrow down Week Eleven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 10 SWAGGA redacted
24 Houston arrow down Week Eleven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 9 Finish up the season with Memphis 2-8 and Rice 1-9. Will need a win over a legit team in their bowl game in order to redeem themselves.
25 Nebraska They’re more than capable of upsetting Texas in the Big XII Championship Game, if they make it there.
Dropped Out: Utah (#16), Arizona (#17), South Florida (#21).

Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots

Rank Team Delta Intellectuals*
1 Florida arrow up Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 1 It’s splitting hairs among these three teams. I bumped Florida and Texas up because they handled Vanderbilt and UCF respectively, while Alabama struggled at home with LSU. LSU is a quality opponent, but Florida was able to handle them on the road with a limited Tebow.
2 Texas arrow up Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 1
3 Alabama arrow down Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 2
4 TCU arrow up Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 2
5 Georgia Tech arrow up Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 3 The Bees needed overtime to beat a feisty Wake Forest. However, the only thing I’m taking away from the game is CPJ’s balls to go for it on down by 3 in OT on 4th down.
6 Cincinnati arrow down Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 1 I like that they held off the Uconn comeback, but an elite team (defense) never lets them back into the game to begin with.
7 Boise State arrow up Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 3 They struggled with Louisiana Tech and Oregon lost, yet they move up… Ahh the benefit of the teams above you losing.
8 Oregon arrow down Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 1 How do you hold USC to 327 yards two weeks ago and let the Cardinal gash you for 505?
9 Southern Cal arrow up Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 5 Matt Barkley struggled and the defense forced four turnovers. When they put together a complete game they’re going to be good.
10 Ohio State arrow up Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 5 Oh no, sorry Penn State fans, the word we were looking for was success, success.

11 Pittsburgh
12 Iowa arrow down Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 8 The Curious Case of where to rank Iowa. Without Ricky Stanzi they might not be a top twenty team. Of course the jury is still out and everyone will know more after their game with tOSU.
13 Miami (Florida) arrow up Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 3 Toyed with Virginia for a half before kicking off the beginning to the end of the Al Groh era.
14 LSU arrow down Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 5
15 Houston arrow down Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 3 Need this 51 yard field goal as time expired. That’s a little too close for comfort against a .500 team.
16 Utah arrow up Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 1
17 Arizona arrow up Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 2
18 Clemson arrow up Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 3 Aside from the kicking game, the best performance of any ACC team this weekend.
19 Oklahoma State arrow up Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 3
20 Wisconsin arrow up Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 4
21 South Florida arrow up Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 4
22 Brigham Young arrow up Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 1 The blowout losses to FSU and TCU are standing out more than the squeaker win against Oklahoma.
23 Penn State arrow down Week Ten BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 10 They’re 2009’s Georgia, a lot of wins none of which are impressive. Lost their biggest two games of the year at home. The only way they move up from here is if they win their bowl game.
24 Stanford
25 Virginia Tech Ah Beamer Ball, stout defense, fundamentally sound special teams and glimpses of greatness on offense.
Dropped Out: Oklahoma (#18), Notre Dame (#20).
My Mumme Poll top five and next seven are exactly those teams 1-5 and 6-12 respectively.

Week Nine BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots

Rank Team Delta Intellectuals*
1 Alabama
2 Florida
3 Texas Hooray, they finally started to dominate fools again.
4 Iowa arrow up Week Nine BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 2 They continue to win ugly, but they’re winning and there’s no such thing as a pretty loss. Stanzi had to have been hungover from some killer Halloween party the night before.
5 Cincinnati Come coach our quarterbacks Greg Forest.
6 TCU arrow up Week Nine BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 1
7 Oregon arrow up Week Nine BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 3 I’m not subscribing to the theory that Boise State should jump ahead of Oregon or that I need to leave Oregon behind Boise. Fuck that. Boise won a close game, at home, to start the season. Congratulations. It’s November now, Oregon has done a 180 and Boise what have you done for me lately?
8 Georgia Tech Bees on Parade
9 LSU arrow up Week Nine BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 2 A win over Alabama lays the groundwork for BCS chaos.
10 Boise State arrow down Week Nine BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 1 I respect your program Chris Petersen, but cannot reward dominance over mediocrity.
11 Pittsburgh arrow up Week Nine BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 7 Quite possible the Wanstache could finish 1-3 with WVU, Notre Dame and Cinci left to go or win out and have an outside, outside, outside shot at the BCSCG.

16 Miami (Florida) arrow up Week Nine BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 1 Stop playing to your competition.
17 Utah arrow up Week Nine BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 4 In two weeks they travel to TCU.
18 Oklahoma arrow up Week Nine BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 5 Would they’ve been better off naming Landry Jones the starter for Texas and getting him 100% of the snaps in practice amidst the uncertainty around Bradford?
19 Arizona arrow up Week Nine BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 3 Stoops flip-flop!
20 Notre Dame arrow up Week Nine BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 5
21 Clemson They lost to two top ten teams and… Maryland. I think they’ve found their identity, but it wouldn’t shock me or anyone if they lost to FSU.
22 Oklahoma State arrow down Week Nine BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 7 Four interceptions for Zac Robinson ain’t getting it done against Texas.
23 Brigham Young

25 South Florida Thanks for smoking WVU and making my weekend a little more bearable.

Week Eight BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots

Rank Team Delta Intellectuals*
1 Alabama Alabama should’ve been flagged, but Tennesse wouldn’t have gotten another kick.
2 Florida Sturgis!
3 Texas While glancing around the bar Saturday night I spotted a sad looking girl sporting a Mizzou hoodie. Best win of the “Big Three”, but their overall resume is still spotty.
4 Southern Cal Should they drop after toying with Oregon State? The Pac-10 may actually be a deep conference this year.
5 Cincinnati And they’re winning without Tony Pike.
6 Iowa arrow up Week Eight BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 1 Unlike against Northern Iowa, that was a clutch last second win.
7 TCU arrow up Week Eight BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 2 The elite of the non-BCS schools.

9 Boise State arrow down Week Eight BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 1 Lead Hawaii 34-0 at the half, spent the rest of the game at the beach.
10 Oregon Please Jesus let Oregon rock orange and black uniforms and jack-o-lantern helmets against USC on Halloween

18 Pittsburgh arrow up Week Eight BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 1 Wanstache how did you lose to 3-4 North Carolina State?
19 West Virginia arrow up Week Eight BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots 3 Classy move at the beginning of the game by the ‘Eers. Will never compliment them again.

mumme poll Week Seven BlogPoll Mumme Poll Ballots

Top Five

  • Alabama
  • Florida
  • Southern Cal
  • Texas
  • Cincinnati

Next Seven

  • Miami
  • Iowa
  • Boise State
  • TCU
  • Georgia Tech
  • Oregon
  • Virginia Tech

Without thinking twice I know everyone (who isn’t senile) will include Alabama, Florida and Texas in their Top Five. The next two spots are open to debate and I gave the nod to Cincinnati because of two impressive road wins (Oregon State, USF) also they’re a balanced well coached team. Southern Cal is another top-fiver because of, again, road wins (tOSU, Cal, ND), an emerging Matt Barkley and all of the talent starting to play together.

As far as the Next Seven is concerned the ACC is well represented because there are three very good, but not elite teams. If Oregon beats USC I’d have to consider them for Top Five consideration. And Iowa is on the brink of overtaking Cincy.
