A House subcommittee approved legislation Wednesday aimed at forcing college football to switch to a playoff system to determine a national champion, over the objections of some lawmakers who said Congress had more pressing matters on its plate.
The bill, which faces long odds of becoming law, would ban the promotion of a postseason NCAA Division I football game as a national championship unless that title contest is the result of a playoff

Because the longest of odds can always hit, let’s think of some alternative names for the BCS to use instead of National Championship. For starters:
- MedellÃn Presents:Â The Cartel Championship
- Commercials Promising to Make Your Dick Hard Sprinkled Throughout 4½ Hours of Football
- No Seriously, We Can Call it the National Championship because the Entire Season is a Playoff

- American Idol on FOX, the Preview Show
- The BCS Bowl Presented by Bob’s Big Boy
- The If-You-Want-a-Playoff-then-Fuck Off-and-Watch-I-AA Game
- That Game at the End of the Year that Matters More than the Rest

The “All Of Our Games Are Relevant Except in Retrospect at least 36 Games Aren’t Relevant Because Three Teams Went Undefeated And Aren’t Here So I Guess Only 24 Games Were Relevant Plus This Game But Not the Fiesta Bowl or Orange Bowl Obviously” Game

I like looking at the NFL playoff system as the pinnacle of sports entertainment. There aren’t too many teams (March Madness/Bowls). Losses don’t eliminate you from the playoffs and thus keeping more teams/fans interested ALL season.
For example, let’s say the NFL just took #1/#2 seeded teams in the Super Bowl. Then 7 of the past 10 Super Bowl winners wouldn’t have even played in the Super Bowl. Secondly, if I were a cold weather team and my team was getting my ass handed to me every bowl season (Big 10), I’d go balls deep into a playoff push. Imagine the home field advantage Penn State or Michigan would have in the playoffs over teams from the South or Southwest. Texas hasn’t played in the snow in 70 years.

Dear John Saunders,
Any team that makes it through a “playoff” without losing is typically crowned champion.
Sincerely,
