Well, there are some us of that think this is dead on.

Ask yourself, how much attention are you paying to all those big college basketball matchup these days?

@hokieg – The “every game matters” argument is insane. The slogan should be something like every game matters in the Big Ten, ACC, some years in the Big East, never for non-BCS schools, a little less in the Big 12 (especially if you’re Oklahoma or Texas) and all but one in the SEC (the automatic mulligan is written into the BCS contract somewhere).

Furthermore, most big time schools are realizing it isn’t to their advantage to play top tier out of conference teams which leads to less exciting games and more undefeated/one-loss teams that you don’t know a thing about.

But remember…Bill Hancock is a really, really, really nice guy.

And he’ll be really, really, really nice when telling TCU/BSU/UC why they can’t play in the BCS Title game after winning every single week during the “playoffs”

Careful what you wish for. I am not saying that I am anti-playoff, just that if you look at the D-2 sub bowl conference (whatever the fuck it’s called now) there are only a certain 2 or 3 teams that ever win and they win the majority of years in a decade. It looks really fucking boring if your team is not the dominant team of the decade.

I don’t watch D-2 football, but my finger in the wind guess is those schools constantly winning just care about it more. That is to say they much better facilities, booster support, etc… Everyone in I-A wants a piece of that pie (money) and are well equipped to do so. With the parity in I-A I think a playoff would vary who’s winning the MNC every year, since prestige and what was done in years past wouldn’t factor in (as much).

I wouldn’t say it is caring about it more. It is that they get all the fringe D-1 kids who want to go to a program that might get them more pub to get into the league than a shit D-1 program. I have looked at this before, but I might do some digging and throw up a post on this. I want to express that I am not anti- playoff I just think that it may end up being horrible for most college football fans if it happens.
