VT-ECU Open Game Threadage

ecu pirate face VT ECU Open Game Threadage
Look at us we’re pirates. We’re sooooooo scary, Disney grossed almost a billion dollars off of our likeness, ohhhhhhhh. OK ok it’s fucking awesome. Pay homage to 200 Years Too Late.

I respect ECU, think Skipper Holtz is a spit off the ole block and their fans are taking this game by the balls. However, I want to see nothing but Pirate carnage after we’re done boarding Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. Can we do it? I think so. This bitch is going to be close. ECU is well coached and they’re fundamentally sound. More over, they’re at home on Thursday night, and yes Hokies, that still means something. This is their Super Bowl. So, uh, yeah how are we going to pull this out? I give you two and a half words:  we’re wounded. And it’s that time of year, you know the one where we rally the troops and win games then think to ourselves we haven’t we been doing that all year long. On the field I think upfront we’ll be able to control, no, dominate the line, pound the ball with Williams and give some breathing room for the Tyrod Taylor show. And if my word isn’t good enough Furrer4Heisman has us winning by 10 and that boy is as pessimistic as they get.

I was at the UNC game. I know you mentioned on the podcast that Kyle Tucker didn’t show, that the D has no leader. I can’t agree more. During the game and during timeouts with no tv, the d consisted of 11 guys standing around just looking like they were waiting for a bus. No one was running around, pumping people up, hitting pad or anything like that. It was disgusting and non Hokie like. I would put in a 110LBS linebacker if he could fire the rest of the team up. Not sure if we can be up for this game.

    What’s an open thread

  3. 3cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 7:39 pm:

Damn I was at the UNC game too, we could have drank together.

  4. 4cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 7:42 pm:

@Trey I think it’s kind of like a circle jerk, but messier.

  5. 5GatorTrey on Nov 5, 2009 at 7:45 pm:

    Will there be beer?

  6. 6SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 7:46 pm:

@cgb Sorry but I didn’t log into twitter or read any sites after the GT loss. Seriously, that loss killed me for a couple weeks. Not sure why I got the depression but I thought our season was soooo setup for a great run.

Kick off time, another loss on the flip, get the jerking ready!

  7. 7cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 7:46 pm:

I am currently drinking an Octoberfest and have many more in the fridge, so yes.

  8. 8cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 7:47 pm:

@SeattleHokie I know the feeling dude, I drank until 4am and then wanted nothing to do with football for the next 3 days.

  9. 9Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 7:48 pm:

Jesus, that was an awful screen.

  10. 10Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 7:49 pm:

    WANG

  11. 11SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 7:49 pm:

Good to see we can get RW in the open on that screen. I hate dr lou more now than I did 5 minutes ago, which I didn’t think possible. Wang looks good as usual.

  12. 12cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 7:51 pm:

Wang is just a fucking abortion.

  13. 13SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 7:52 pm:

So far jake johnson hasn’t missed a tackle yet, he is looking good on the sideline

  14. 14SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 7:53 pm:

Kam making a great hit, right when it counts.

  15. 15Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 7:54 pm:

We are walking a fine line with punt return blocks. This is one of the more poorly coached VT teams I’ve ever seen.

  16. 16cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 7:54 pm:

Wow that hit was just effing brutal.

  17. 17SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 7:54 pm:

I think Hosley purposely didn’t score b/c you know the offense will. Special Teams is fired up, put them on D. Wow what some fucking hits.

  18. 18cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:01 pm:

Oh yeah that’s right we won’t go for it because it’s not 4th and 20.

  19. 19SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:02 pm:

I think we just upped our first half scoring average

  20. 20Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:02 pm:

Wow, a first quarter 7-yard scoring drive. I am just shocked and amazed.

  21. 21cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:03 pm:

It’s Stineyball, just learn to love it Box.

  22. 22SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:06 pm:

Don’t run the option on us, unless you want to gain a lot of yards and first downs.

  23. 23Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:09 pm:

Stineyball is better suited for New Hampshire High School AA football.

  24. 24SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:10 pm:

Someone not named Worlids in the backfield, WTF

  25. 25cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:10 pm:

I am shocked as shit we held them there. I thought after the second down pass that would turn into a scoring drive.

  26. 26cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:13 pm:

I’ve basically stated Josh O shouldn’t get carries but every time he comes into the game he gets yards. Let the kid pound the rock.

  27. 27Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:15 pm:

Tyrod has zero faith in his receivers making a play.

  28. 28The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:15 pm:

Our offensive line is the biggest joke of all time.

  29. 29SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:15 pm:

If our D doesn’t get to the qb quickly they find someone, if their d doesn’t get to Tyrod quickly he will now find no one.

Nice run RW! Keep pounding it.

  30. 30The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:16 pm:

    That’s what she said.

  31. 31cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:17 pm:

In the words of the Box, “Marcus Davis sighting.”

  32. 32SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:17 pm:

3 palys, 3 completions to 3 different receivers and 2 first downs. What channel is the Tech game on?

  33. 33Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:18 pm:

A fucking sweep to the short side of the field when the D is overloading to that side. Brilliant.

  34. 34cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:20 pm:

We ALWAYS do that shit. Why in the holy fucking do we never pitch or run outside to the wide side of the field. Also, if we want to run in the redzone could we not do it with Tyrod on fucking draws. Another wasted drive.

  35. 35SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:22 pm:

Beamer Ball Baby! Get those field goals so our D HAS to stop them!

  36. 36The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:22 pm:

I HATE RED ZONE QB DRAWWWWWWWWWWWWS

  37. 37Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:23 pm:

if TT knew how to throw a touch pass, that would have been a Coale TD

  38. 38SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:23 pm:

What the fuck is dr lou talking about?

  39. 39cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:24 pm:

Was that chick just wearing a black bra?

  40. 40The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:25 pm:

I thought this was a pirate out…ECU Student section = fail

  41. 41cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:29 pm:

I thought this was a pirate out…ECU Student section = fail

    Seriously.

  42. 42Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:31 pm:

    Pinkney just froze Cody. Embarrassing.

  43. 43The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:32 pm:

This is disgusting..wake ‘em up bud!

  44. 44cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:33 pm:

We are so fucking fortunate both of their big plays got called back. Thank god for the Grimm Reaper.

  45. 45SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:34 pm:

could lou sound more depressed on that play. Good to see Grimm come back after leaving jock on the 15.

  46. 46Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:34 pm:

Nevermind, Grimm is our muthafuckin Rudy Ruettiger.

  47. 47The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:35 pm:

Cody Grimm’s heart is bigger than the state of NC

  48. 48cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:36 pm:

    @Miz – Truth

  49. 49SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:38 pm:

Time for Waldron to loosen up, Hokies almost in the red zone.

  50. 50cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:38 pm:

Ryan Williams doesn’t need an offensive line. And then there’s Tyrod fail.

  51. 51Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:39 pm:

Man, that shit looked EXACTLY like the Vick run vs. FSU in the Sugar Bowl

  52. 52The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:44 pm:

Tyrod has now fumbled at the goalline three times in the last two weeks…

  53. 53cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:44 pm:

Yeah that’s just sloppy fucking play right there.

  54. 54Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:44 pm:

Taking bets on how we eff up the field position this time…. INT 4:1 , 3 and Out 1.5:1 , Fumble 4:1

  55. 55SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:45 pm:

@ The Miz Stiney should tell Tyrod to kneel down at the 2.

  56. 56cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:46 pm:

Not only will I take the 3 and Out, but I will call the plays.

    1. Pass, Tyrod scrambles incomplete.
    2. 2 yard gain by Williams.
    3. Tyrod screen for four yards.

  57. 57Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:47 pm:

    Who had fumble?!

  58. 58The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:48 pm:

Lou Holtz just tried to say it was a hokie that touched the ball when he was out of bounds…what a moron.

  59. 59cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:51 pm:

I caught that as well Miz. Holtz is just turrble.

  60. 60The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:54 pm:

I think he just had a stroke over that call…

  61. 61Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:54 pm:

CGB with the win. Fumble is a push, since the refs are apparently buttfucking morons.

  62. 62cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:56 pm:

It’s like the refs got together, knew they were going to uphold the call and decided to fuck with everyone and say the most ridiculous thing imaginable.

  63. 63Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:58 pm:

We’re getting better on 3rd down D. This is why I’m not worried about Bud fixing the problems on D. He has some personnel issues obviously. The offense is just one Metro wreck after another.

  64. 64SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 8:58 pm:

Lou making so much sense. I will ask ESPN if my 18 month niece can do next game.

    HOLD THE BALL!

  65. 65The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:00 pm:

@seattle…she’d probably dribble and spit less than lou when she talks

  66. 66Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:02 pm:

If I see one more goddamn delayed handoff I’m going to lose my shit. Why cant we have a normal offense?

  67. 67SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:02 pm:

@miz, haaa, and she looks better and a Hokie fan

  68. 68cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:04 pm:

Two first downs, Box give us the odds for how this drive concludes.

  69. 69cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:07 pm:

I wonder when Coale get his wings?

  70. 70The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:08 pm:

my best buddy just texted me and said Lou reminds him of Dick Clark post stroke…no offense to Dick or anything…haaaaa

  71. 71SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:08 pm:

great catch by coale, not a great throw.

  72. 72The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:10 pm:

    niiiiiiiiiiiiice

  73. 73Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:11 pm:

First half TD? Uh, I’d guess the odds on that were about 269:1

  74. 74cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:11 pm:

He’s like difference of brain power of all stroke victims.

  75. 75SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:12 pm:

Did you notice that Tyrod stretched and left ball in end zone. They are right, he has short memory.

  76. 76cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:13 pm:

Yup he definitely did and he does that a lot. I’ll credit him for always wanting to make the big play, but he has to be smarter.

  77. 77The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:15 pm:

now four times in two games…ugh

  78. 78Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:16 pm:

ECU should really do the smart thing here and take a 13-0 deficit into the half.

  79. 79The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:16 pm:

I don’t like that I feel uncomfortable sending the D out after the half…strange things are happenin’ (randy newman)

  80. 80SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:20 pm:

Looked like we were offsides and they had offensive interference

  81. 81cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:21 pm:

Everyone is just shitting on Lou Holtz over his assessment of just giving up with 2 minutes left…

  82. 82cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:23 pm:

    Translation: Dad, use whack!

  83. 83cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:27 pm:

OK going to recharge my batteries at the half, see you guys in like 15.

  84. 84The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:45 pm:

I’m betting Todd Harris likes dudes

  85. 85Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:48 pm:

    Another awful screen…what a surprise.

  86. 86SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:51 pm:

battery is recharged, more beer is chilling and the Hokies offense still looks pathetic, great first drive.

  87. 87cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:52 pm:

    @SeattleHokie – Like clockwork

  88. 88cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:54 pm:

Three broken tackles on third down, phenomenal.

  89. 89Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:54 pm:

How anyone can think Kam is NFL bound is beyond me. Not only has he been out of position all year, he takes awful angles and cant tackle 75% of the time.

  90. 90Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:56 pm:

    BEAMERBALL

  91. 91cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:56 pm:

    btw how is Temple 6-2?

  94. 94Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:57 pm:

They should make a video game called NCAA STREET 2009. Tyrod would own.

  95. 95The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 9:58 pm:

Lou just called him tyron tyler…nice

  96. 96cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:00 pm:

Lou struggling to string together two similar sounding syllables.

How the fuck do you not catch that fucking ball?

  97. 97The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:07 pm:

    ugh. boooooooooring

  98. 98cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:07 pm:

Thanks for taking a 15 yard loss Harris.

  99. 99SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:09 pm:

  100. 100The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:12 pm:

  101. 101Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:13 pm:

I prefer Erin Andrews on the sideline. Fuck Pirate Crunch…wtf? Captain Crunch’s sworn enemy on the high seas of cereal world?

  102. 102cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:13 pm:

After we win this game I am going to make some Pirate Hokie Crunch.

  103. 103cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:14 pm:

    @Box +1

  104. 104SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:14 pm:

Whew, that was close. We need to run that play more.

  105. 105Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:14 pm:

Tyrod scrambling breaks the WRs off their routes….and it takes another couple seconds for them to change field and get open. I’m convinced this is his problem.

  106. 106The Miz on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:16 pm:

Marcus…why you out there running that ooptie oop?

    Sir, my name is Tyrod.

  107. 107SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:16 pm:

Was it me or did Skip Holtz’s wife look hot, from the side view at least.

@Box +2 but this is such a B game that we deserve the B team crew they sent. Only real winners get to gawk and wank to Erin Andrews

  108. 108cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:20 pm:

I was feeling minimal hotness, but she seemed very comfortable in the kitchen so that’s a bonus. Survey says, I’d bang her.

  109. 109cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:22 pm:

Oh, what a surprise, a fucking blocking penalty on Ed Wang because he cannot block worth a shit.

  110. 110Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:23 pm:

(Donnie Darko) Go back to China, bitch.

  111. 111SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:27 pm:

@cgb – Haaaa, my sentiments exactly. if on tv, it makes you kind of famous which adds to the hotness. I just rewound, not hot, definitely doable if you like milfs or have extremely low standards like me. Damn, I hope my wife doesn’t read this.

  112. 112cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:29 pm:

If your wife is reading this bullshit blog then I’m going to pat myself on the back.

  113. 113Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:31 pm:

  115. 115SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:38 pm:

  116. 116Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:38 pm:

I didnt think it would ever come to this, but I’m worried we might lose to UVa.

  118. 118SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:43 pm:

  119. 119cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:43 pm:

VT is 91-6 when we’re over 200 yards in rushing. I saw one of those losses @Pitt in 2003 in person. God my liver hated me that night.

  120. 120Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:44 pm:

Ryan Williams is going to save Stinespring’s job this season. Damnit.

  121. 121cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:45 pm:

@SeattleHokie I was thinking the same thing. I’d like to do her on a bed of Pirate Hokie Crunch.

  122. 122Box on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:46 pm:

That 2003 Pitt game was the worst. I was there, too.

Side comment: 2 TE in motion again!!

  123. 123SeattleHokie on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:52 pm:

Wow, D not doing well, ECU doing worse.

  124. 124cgb on Nov 5, 2009 at 10:52 pm:

if we hang on I will be a little happy but 4 weeks ago we were sooo much better than this team. Now we are so fucking mediocre it makes me sick. We could easily lose 2 or our next 3 if we keep playing like this.
