The Lamborghini is definitely blushing.
Doak Walker Candidates Announced. With so many names we thought it was impossible to snub any player on any college football watch-list. But Penn State’s Evan Royster isn’t one of the 45 players list as a Doak Walker candidate. Royster rushed for over 1200+ yards in ‘08 and will be featured even more in ‘09 while the Nitany Lions try to break in young inexperience wide receivers.
Steele, Turnovers and BCI. Brian looks at Phil Steele’s turnover predictor and what it means for our beloved ACC. Long story short it only applies to Miami, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech. If VT falls within the 80% success rate, the Hokies won’t win more than 10 games. Meanwhile Jeff, who was last seen wearing purple, must still be doing housework.
The UConn-Notre Dame series is on life support.
Now, UConn athletic director Jeff Hathaway was here briefly this morning and I caught up to him and I flat out used the word dead. ”I think dead is too strong a word,” he said. He made it clear to me that his goal is to get the best teams to play UConn at RENTSCHLER FIELD in East Hartford.
While Rentschler Field isn’t a great venue for a football game, 40k fans longing for basketball season adjacent to a Cabela’s, we applaud them for not wanting to play an away-neutral site series with the Irish. You can’t build a program while bending over backwards for another.
If you’re not down with the Bulldogs then we’ve got two words for you! Mississippi State is quickly becoming one of our favorite programs.
Every player has to think they play in the best conference, but they don’t have to come out and say it, especially when it isn’t true. Our late-night response to the SS fantasy football league debating this very subject, “Big 12 hasn’t done shit recently except put up a ghastly amount of points in conference games. The teams all start 4-0, 3-1 because they play teams consisting of patients from an aids ward.”

wow. you don’t know much about mississippi state, huh? if you look forward to ringing cowbells as the high-point of the season, you’ll be right on track.

…says the guy who calls the hogs on a regular basis.

Cmon arkbadger if you can fall in love with sui pig then how can you hate on DX suck-its and weight lifting sessions with masks and face paint? The Dan Mullen era looks like it is going to make up for the boringness of the Croom tenure.

arkansas at least has a shred of football tradition. mississippi state has a legacy of being the second (or possibly third) best team in the state and cheating. the coolest thing that ever happened to miss. state football was jackie sherrill cutting the balls off of a bull before a texas game.
and any jackass can ring a cowbell, hearing 72,000 people call the hogs is a lifechanging experience.

cgb, i’ve just never liked any college team from mississippi. but i agree, mullen will at least make the bulldogs watchable from time to time. he’s just going to have a hell of a time getting decent recruits in there consistently.

I’m going to want to hear that right before I get institutionalized. Every time I hear about calling the hogs I get a mental picture of how scared/shocked Bobby Petrino looked at his introduction presser.
I am not trying to rag on Arkansas too much, I actually hold no ill will towards them. I think you guys are back on the right track. Mallet should develop into a stud over the next few years. What are your expectations for the season? Anyways good to see you commenting over in these parts.

you thought petrino looked shocked, you should have seen dana altman at the press conference for his 1 day tenure as basketball coach. priceless.
without being too homerific, i think with a few lucky bounces we can honestly win 8 games. our defense should be much improved over last year. oour secondary was horrendous last year, but we got some help via juco and a 5 star freshman coming in that should both see a lot of playing time. offensively i think they barely scratched the surface last year with the playbook. there are 4-5 legit rb’s this year to take some slack off of michael smith, and dj williams is probably the best tight end in the sec. if the schedule wasn’t so brutal i really think they would have a chance to contend in the west, but road games at ole miss, lsu, florida and bama are insane. i think if they can win 1 of those, 8 wins could be a reality. the second game of the year at home against georgia will be the litmus test.
