Irving suffered a broken leg and collapsed lung and was taken to Wake Med Trauma Center, according to a statement released by the school. He was scheduled for surgery Sunday night. Irving was cited with careless and reckless driving, according to a state highway patrol report, after a one-vehicle crash at 4:40a.m. near the 314-mile marker on Interstate40. There is no indication in the police report that alcohol was involved, but the report indicated that being tired or sleepy might have contributed to the crash, which occurred in western Johnston County.
