The 2009 calendar will make the Alamo Bowl seem a bit more prestigious. The old rule was the later in the season a bowl was played, the more esteemed and prominent it was. Not anymore.
There will be no 2009 Valero Alamo Bowl. That’s because bowl officials say they have received a Jan. 2, 2010, date for their college football game. “This year’s calendar has provided us an excellent prime time Saturday slot that will allow the Valero Alamo Bowl to reach a wide audience,” says Alamo Bowl President and CEO Derrick Fox.

Congressman Joe Barton, who is trying to slay the BCS with a pen by introducing a bill to congress to banish it in favor of a playoff has the support of the President.
“We do agree on this and we have talked about it. To answer specifically, we have spoken on this three times, and all three times he has said that he supports my bill and he thinks that there should be a playoff and if it gets to his desk he will sign the bill.”
He goes on to say a hearing will be held on the issue within a month, so a playoff may actually happen soon.
Ed Podolak will be back on the air this fall calling Iowa football games. Now with more less alcohol!
Cullen Harper realizes he has no chance of signing with a NFL team, so he’s trying to make money by hawking off autographs at $10 a pop.
Chip Kelly eats Oreos for breakfast. And, oh yeah, he’s not going to be tweeting anytime soon.
