Shut up.
The back and forth between Leach and Sherman is like listening to two teens diss each other. Leach is the one eliciting all the “Ohh Snaps!” and “Duh-Amns!” while Sherman has nothing but stale yo-mamma jokes to toss back. Here’s the latest from the Pirate Captain.
“I never questioned the handling of the (A&M) players in any way and have always expressed the utmost respect for their coaching staff,” Leach told The Avalanche-Journal.
“I’ve always said that it is truly exciting to play Texas A&M – the quality of coaches they have, the great team and great tradition and, above all, the quality of players they have,” Leach continued. “I’ve always known A&M had great players. The fact that they have the luxury to put a third- or fourth-round draft pick on the bench, to me, identifies what a truly great team they are.
“It’s an honor for us at Texas Tech to have the opportunity to play them. There are numerous players on our team that will never get a look or play a down in the NFL, so you can imagine how exciting it is for me and them to go play a team the magnitude of Texas A&M and look over there on the bench and see third- and fourth-round draft picks.”
It’s already rough for the Aggies who are 1-7 against Texas Tech in the last 8 seasons. But listening to your coach take it on the chin from Leach just exacerbates the embarrassment.
Mike Sherman you aren’t winning this one. Save some face, shut up and let it end.

Mike Sherman tells the Pirate Captain to piss off.
There is nothing Mike Leach could ever say that would offend me. I do find it unfortunate, however, that a college coach feels the need to question the handling of a player by a staff particularly without any knowledge of the facts or the extent of a player’s injury. It is equally bothersome that a football coach would question the draft status of a player.
I wonder if he would find this offensive? “Ned Flanders Mike Sherman I mock your value system. You also appear foolish in the eyes of others.”
Sherman’s comment came after his initial response and Leach’s trashing of Eric Mangini.
Is Trev Alberts being groomed for the big seat in Lincoln?
Hokie Spring Wrap Up
Gobbler Country grades the offense and defense. He also points out our 40,000+ fans were the most to attend an ACC spring game. We run this conference. The special teams needs to work hard this summer. Kyle Tucker has some post spring game interviews and Illinois Hokie drops some statisticals on how the offense performed. The offensive numbers have to be taken with a grain of salt simply because Ryan Williams and Tyrod Taylor were on different teams. And Annette took a break from lobbing soft-toss at our Commandant Offensar.

No. 1 – Never trust a man who owns less than three rifles. His only intention is to steal one of yours.
No. 2 – Always sprinkle baking soda down the outhouse hole after beer shits. Continue Reading “Mountaineers’ Rules for Living” »

Threet also considered Oregon State but developed a relationship with the Arizona State coaching staff and had an excellent visit over the weekend. Threet wanted to fit into a pro-style offense after having been previously enrolled at both Georgia Tech and Michigan. (ESPN.com | Joe Schad)

Every Monday Randomly during the off-season Heather Dinich hosts an ACC chat and answers questions at ESPN.com. This is her most perceptive and astute response.
Jason (Columbus GA): Will BJ Raji actually be able to handle NFL linemen and stuff the run for the GB Packers?
Heather Dinich: (3:18 PM ET ) Have you seen Raji? He’s a man-wall. He’ll git er done.

Some of the things I found interesting while compiling all of this data were:
- More players were drafted out of Abilene Christian than either Notre Dame or Virginia Tech.
- South Carolina had 6 players drafted in rounds 5-7. Is Spurrier not developing his talent?
- Connecticut had 4 players drafted within the first 63 picks.
- Jamaican born Vaughn Martin was the only Canadian player selected.
- The SEC is king cotton, but the ACC had 9 of the first 45 players drafted. Quality over quantity?
- The Big East had more players per school drafted, 3.375, than any of the other BCS conferences.
*All of the data was taken from wikipedia and calculated by hand late at night. So if there are any errors that is why. If anything is wrong feel free to correct me.

So who is going to have the best draft, the ACC or the SEC? In the past five drafts the ACC has had 176 picks while the SEC has had 191. The ACC has had 31 first round picks (with a staggering 12 in 2006) while the SEC has had 37 first-round selections in those five drafts. (ajc | Mr. College Football)

The whole Greg Paulus saga started when we heard he might end up in the NFL with the Packers (he still could). Then we heard he was a lock to take one of Michigan’s final three scholarships and compete with Tate Forcier for the starting quarterback job. That fizzled out. And now it’s <airquotes>likely</airquotes> Paulus will end up with the Orange. Now that’s a destination that makes sense to us for a couple of reasons.
The homecoming story is all well and good, but that’s not what we’re talking about. For lack of a better option, Syracuse is looking to the future at quarterback. After one day of spring practice redshirt freshman Ryan Nassib was named the starter replacing 2008’s signal caller senior Cameron Dantly. While Paulus is definitely not the future, he could be that other option, the bridge that Dantly is not. Nassib would then be able to learn the system while the equally experienced, but more talented Paulus plays in 2009.
Most importantly playing at Syracuse will actually provide Paulus the opportunity to lead the Orange to a successful season. Success is relative. At Michigan anything other than a New Year’s Day or better bowl and win over Ohio State is a failed season. For ‘Cuse, a team that hasn’t made a bowl game in four seasons, six wins and a trip to somewhere warmer than upstate New York is as good as the BCS.

Yesterday Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree was revealed as the fourth athlete to be featured on one of the four platform exclusive NCAA 10 covers. Crabtree joins Utah quarterback Brian Johnson, Texas defensive end Brian Orakpo and USC quarterback Mark Sanchez, who were announced early in the week, as the respective cover athletes for PS3, PSP and PS2. It was assumed that either Crabtree or Percy Harvin would earn the Xbox 360 cover and you have to wonder if Harvin’s positive marijuana test had him pulled at the last minute.

Remember that at last year’s meetings down in South Florida the commissioners heard a proposal backed by the SEC and ACC that would have called for a “Plus-One” model, which is essentially a four-team playoff. The response then and the response to Thompson’s proposal on Tuesday was the same. They listened politely, had a thorough discussion and then said, in so many words: “Thanks for dropping by. We’ll take it under advisement.” (ajc | Mr. College Football)
