Daily News Jets beat writer Rich Cimini revealed a rumor he heard about Notre Dame hiring Jon Gruden amid his reasoning of why Gruden wouldn’t be a good fit as Jets head coach.
By the way, one of my Bucs peeps tells me that the word around the Bucs is that Gruden could be going to Notre Dame to replace Charlie Weis. Sounds a little far fetched, but as the theory goes: The school will buy out Weis as soon as he signs his recruiting class, in two or three weeks, and hire Gruden. Heard from someone close to the Notre Dame program that there’s a weird vibe around the football offices. Hmmm.
That would be one fucked up way to fire a coach… Assure him he is safe for a year, then pink slip him after he hauls in another top 20 recruiting class. And what about the recruits? It’s even more dicked up for them, because they can’t just pick up and leave.
Let’s suppose one way or another this actually goes down. Would it be a good move for Notre Dame? I personally think Gruden is a better coach than Weis. He is a work-a-holic who actually won a Super Bowl as head coach. Notre Dame has the talent, they’ve just severely under performed. Gruden would light that necessary fire under the player’s asses.
Dr. Saturday thinks it’s more likely the NCAA retroactively penalizes USC for the “Bush Push” than Notre Dame hiring Gruden. John Walters says no effin’ way.

God, I don’t ask you for much but if you could make this happen I would be forever grateful. Charlie don’t let the door hit your continent sized ass on the way out.

F that. Take Urban Meyer instead! He already said it would be his dream job and I would love to see the Gators’ run come crashing to a halt.
