We are less than 36 hours from Bradford v. Tebow, Texas Oklahoma v. Florida and here are the major story lines so far. Percy Harvin’s ankle is 90%, which only makes him 1.5x quicker than any Oklahoma player. Oklahoma corner Dominique Franks cited Tim Tebow as the 4th best Quarterback in country. Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy made his top 3. Florida is fast and the Sooner’s joke of a defense is fired up to stop them. Tulsa International Airport has already decleared Oklahoma the winner.
Dime Piece Camera. FOX has mastered finding relevant player girlfriends throughout a game.
Chiziked? From The Wiz of Odds, Ben Bruns was a starter on the Cyclone offensive line in 2000. He remains close to the program as president of the Iowa State Letterwinners Club board of directors. He’s just started a blog and gives his take on Gene Chizik leaving Iowa State for Auburn.
Gene Chizik might have gotten it done at ISU. He might have brought in the best and the brightest – heck, Dyron Dye was on campus for a visit. He might have gone out and gotten the best coordinators in the market at the time. He might have proved he is a military man “CEO” coach he sells himself as, but I bet if you ask a couple of his former players, coaches and recruits, they’ll tell you he proved himself to be a mercenary. They’re the ones that got the shaft in this deal. The fact that Gene Chizik could only muster at most 3 minutes for his two years’ worth of connection with a team, not answering any questions, he might as well have walked in, peed on the floor and walked out. Why waste your time with people you obviously care so little about? To satisfy his own guilty conscience is my only speculation. Gene Chizik was never connected with Iowa State, and I guess that’s why I never connected with him. Hopefully for him, he connects with Auburn or he might find himself without so many contacts in his phone.
The entire post is a must read. To us it seems like Chizik’s ego wrote a check his body couldn’t cash.
Utah looking to go 14-0 with win in court against BCS. But they will end up 13-1.
The BCS will tell the state of Utah to get lost, as will a good judge. Ultimately, this might be the first step in a long line of steps that will lead to another BCS reform, but not a playoff system. As was just pointed out, there is too much money in the BCS for it to change.
But another media blackeye could help the cause for a playoff.
