A Sooner fan held this up during the Oklahoma rout of Missouri. This is just a huge fuck you from Oklahoma to Texas.

Being a Sooner Alum now living elsewhere, I really enjoyed seeing this sign being caught on National TV during the game. Texan’s and their egos….Whew, I sure don’t miss that! I think they got what they deserved, although it was not the Texas coaches’ or the players’ fault. Blame has to go to the genius who scheduled their ridiculous creme-puff non-conference schedule. Compare it to who the Sooner’s played. Same thing happened to Auburn a couple of years ago. Schedules do make a difference in the BCS, and the big-time teams’ like Texas need to play a more competitive non-conference schedule if they want to win out for the big prize……..

as a sooner alum and hokie fan all i have to say is this: fuck you, texas.
i will be in miami for nine days. god, this trip is going to be the sex.
3Donald on Dec 7, 2008 at 3:43 am:
“fuck you, texas”?
furrer4heisman…i am a texas alum…are we mortal enemies now? it doesn’t bother you at all that this is what it has become? and even more that you represent your school by telling others on a national blog “fuck you”?
to be honest…both texas and ou deserve a shot. this was a great year in big xii football (especially for the south). we all received the respect we deserved from the polls and national spotlight. the games were entertaining. we all had incredible wins and losses we’d rather forget. no one team was dominant. it was competitive and i enjoyed every minute of it.
i just don’t understand what could possibly justify this type of behavior. there are good points to the arguments for both sides. as much as you are tired of hearing it from texas fans…how have you showed your class and your honor? is this what you learned from your program? we should both appreciate the competition and strength of the other schools in our conference.
i wish your team the best in miami and i hope you have an amazing time on your trip. in the meantime, and i say this as nicely as i can, i hope you understand that comments like yours are unnecessary. please represent the big xii with more class during your trip than you do here. after all, you will be representing us all…

Nice call Donald. I couldn’t agree more.
5Austinite on Dec 7, 2008 at 9:10 am:
Let me say this – as a non-Longhorn who has lived in Austin for 18 years, UT fans are the most obnoxious, arrogant, and condescending fans I’ve ever met. I used to the Aggies were bad, but Longhorns take the cake. This sign was right on the money.
6GENERAL LEE on Dec 7, 2008 at 2:09 pm:
Donald, while I understand exactly what you’re saying, I also understand furrer’s reason for dropping the F Bomb.
Comparing Oklahoma’s class throughout this whole mess to Texas’, is not even a valid comparison after the way UT fans have acted in the last 2 weeks. The banners, planes, rude interview interruptions, beforehand……and THEN again last night?! I’ve NEVER seen a major school act so childish.
Get over it, you LOST to Tech, a lesser team, and by FAR more than the score depicted. No, we SHOULDN’T throw that one out just because your Texas, sorry. Win all of your games and you will not have this problem. If you don’t, then win the rest more convincingly.
7heelingood on Dec 7, 2008 at 2:10 pm:
I’m a Texas fan, and a UNC alum, but I have to admit the sign is hilarious. Texas deserved to be in the Big XII championship just as much as OU, but it was a real toss-up. The real problem is Texas would have a much better chance to beat Florida, and someone defiantly needs to knock the overrated SEC of their high horse.
8Gabbo on Dec 7, 2008 at 2:56 pm:
As an OU alum, I’ve enjoyed the rivalry but never had any heated feelings towards Texas or their fans. It was a friendly rivalry.
But I’ve been extremely dissapointed by the never ending whining AFTER the BCS ratings came out last week. So to me the sign was dead on perfect.
The three way tie with teams that had ‘rock, paper, scissored’ each other was a difficult problem. What gets me is how Texas has spun this whole issue into a two team debate – conveniently ignoring the fact they lost to Tech. Even worse…they ignore the fact the fact the ONLY reason Tech dropped so far in the BCS and became irrelevant is because OU crushed them. (Think about how different Tech would be considered if they’d lost by 5.)
If the roles were reversed, I’m sure I would be dissapointed to. But the rules were agreed on by all parties. And by any objective measure to break the three way tie, OU had a stronger case than Texas or Texas Tech. Those are the breaks.
At some point Texas fans need to accept it and move on (instead of flying banners at the Big 12 title game).
BTW, I love how head to head isn’t important and all those other factors (like overall strength of schedule, non conference record) come flying out of Longhorn fans mouths as soon as anyone questions why Texas is getting a Fiesta bowl bid over Tech….
9Kebles on Dec 7, 2008 at 7:29 pm:
Hey, Healingood! “overrated SEC”? As I stated above, I’m a Big 12 Alum (OU) and a huge B-12 fan who has lived in an SEC state for 12-years now. We rarely get to watch B12 games because during the past decade there was only a couple a year that were really competitive and worth watching. OU-Texas usually being one of those. This year has been suprisingly and satisfyingly different. This year, you who live in the B12 got just a small taste of what the SEC in all about. Yeah, the SEC has a couple doormats but even they were competitive for a change. What I found remarkable is that almost every week there is a game being played in the SEC, which has the excitement and competitiveness of say, OU-Texas. I hope and pray that the B12 will continue this trend and stay as competitive in the years to come. Then I won’t have to take any more crap from SEC fans about the B12 being the Big two and on up years the Big Three! A great start would be for OU to hammer Florida. I’m already hearing all about how Stoops can’t win the big prize. With a 1-5? BCS record, there’s not much of a comeback. Boise State? Man, if OU can defeat Florida, then perhaps that nightmare can finally be laid to rest. I’m sick of hearing about it.
10cgb on Dec 7, 2008 at 8:53 pm:
As the proprietor of this blog I figured I’de make my voice heard. I have to say that the Texas Oklahoma rivalry is one of my favorites in all of college football. When they play I am glued to the TV. I am definitely always rooting for the Sooners. For whatever reason I like Stoops and I don’t like Brown because he always just seems to be complaining and whining. In the years where Texas would win 10 games and lose to Oklahoma and Brown would bitch about not making the BCS would rub me the wrong way. I would always just say all you have to do is beat Oklahoma and you would make it. However, this year they did and Texas definitely got fucked by the BCS and a silly tie-breaker. At what point in time will the Big 12 realize it is in their best interest to place Texas and Oklahoma in opposite divisions? For the last ten years they’ve been the two dominate teams of the conference. Having them play twice a year would be amazing.
11cindy on Dec 7, 2008 at 9:36 pm:
Another idea would be to ignore the north-south thing and just let the two best teams play for the conference title.
12cgb on Dec 7, 2008 at 10:12 pm:
@cindy – I would like that idea, for every conference, if each team still played every other team. The reason I like the divisions is because you have the two “mini” conferences that play round robin.
13Billy on Dec 8, 2008 at 12:48 am:
I am the OU Fan that held the sign up. I live in Texas and I have heard more whining than ever before. Oklahoma did not make the rules. It is said and done and crying is not going to do any good. Hence, that is why I made the sign. Save what face you have left and just kick our ass next year, but make sure you kick everyone else’s ass as well or I will have to make another sign.
14T on Dec 8, 2008 at 3:28 am:
“Texan’s and their egos….”
Whoaa! I’m a Texan…and I know many Texan’s who don’t care for the “texas longhorns.” However, please dont lump us all together.
“Texans” are not complaining about this tie-breaker….however, fans of the univ. of texas are. But, that is totally different. (I think you get the point).
Either way….I (as a Texan) think it worked out perfect. I would rather OU be there than the longhorns.
I think Bob Stoops is one of the greates coaches I have personally ever seen…and I want him to continue to build that legacy.
Later..!
15'Horns on Dec 8, 2008 at 10:01 am:
Funny sign, I’m not gonna disagree. But to suggest that any other major program in our position would have acted any differently is idiotic. The only reason OU showed any ‘class’ was because they weren’t the ones who got screwed. I’m not going to disagree that OU has a great point and they’re just as worthy as Texas (we got crushed in that first half of the Tech game), but there’s no way Texas is any different from any other school.
I’ve had the “pleasure” of living in Ohio for five years, and let me tell you that OSU fans are ten times worse than Longhorn fans — and I’m sure there are plenty of other schools out there that are just as bad.
Texas isn’t “whining” because “we’re… we’re… we’re Texas” — we’re complaining because we happened to get screwed. It had to happen to somebody and whoever got screwed was going to complain. OU would have been just as bad if Texas got that BCS vote.
One last thing — of course Mack is going to politik for his squad. To criticize him for doing so is idiotic.
16Michael on Dec 8, 2008 at 10:59 am:
I am a devout Texas fan – my dog is named Darryl Royal – but I thought the sign was amusing. What I disagree with, however is the criticsm of Mack Brown.
The game is not about the fans, it is about the kids who play. The kids who played for Texas outdid themselves with effort and class. And I am making a comment, not a comparison. That being said, Mack Brown believes in his kids and fought for them to get the recognition that THEY deserve, just as much as the Oklahoma team desrves it. There is no reason why Texas should not be playing for the National Championship. Period. I am not whining, I am not complaining, I am stating a fact. There are several teams this year who deserve to play for the National Champiosnhip but without question, no team who failed to make the game, deserves it more than the Texas players. One should feel badly for them, just like you could feel badly for the Penn State polayers and the USC players.
The Texas teamn deserves great credit for what it accomplished and it is unfortunate that the season must end in a disappointing factor and that the title is determined by things other than what occured on the field.
I feel bad for the players, not the fans.

All is not lost yet. If Texas throttles Ohio State and Oklahoma barely beats Florida who knows the AP Voters may rank Texas #1 and create a split National Championship.

I live in rural central Texas and fortunately most of my neighbors are Aggies. I’ve never seen as much crying from Longhorn fans as I’ve seen this year. Amazing.

1) Yes, I’ll admit, the sign is funny.
2) Kebles, as an OU alum, it doesn’t surprise me in the least that you can’t spell the word “cream” correctly. Remove foot from mouth, then talk.
3) Out-of-conference schedules are made years in advance. A few years ago, could you really tell me that TCU or Cincinnati was going to be better than Arkansas? The only thing that was, without a doubt, “creme-puff” (using your distinguished linguistic skills) about our schedules was OU playing Chattanooga, one of the worst teams in 1-AA.
Personally, I’m not upset that OU got into the MNC. The best two teams in the country should play for the title, and that would be OU-UT. Sorry Florida, but the SEC doesn’t stack up this year. You beat a bunch of overrated teams that are only holding on to their top-25 ranking because of the media’s annual circle-jerk over your conference. I will be pulling for you to murder OU, but as of right now, it should be OU-UT.

I know your type…probably not even from Texas originally. Came into Austin realizing how great of a town it is…..which it wouldnt be without the University of Texas. You probably were a dork in school and when you see the cool kids walking around with National Champions gear on with a pretty girl on their arm you get green with jealousy. I think you are mistaking arrogance for confidence. We are the most dominant sports program as a whole in the country for at least the past decade. We are used to winning championships, having the best nightlife in the country, some of the best looking girls, and just all around being better than you and you cant stand you weren’t part of it when you were young and you’re still not part of it now. Oh….oops was that arrogant? Still room on the bandwagon….jump on. 45 is greater than 35..right? Texas has as much say for that OU spot as they do and arguable Tech as well. System sucks, no need to bring in your critique of Texas fans with that. La who ser……Loser!

Texas fans and their ego? I’ve never seen school (OU) make a mockery of another’s emblem they way the do Texas. Then again, I never seen anything in Oklahoma worth making a mockery of. Sooner = sorry, whiny little bastards.
22Soup on Dec 8, 2008 at 3:37 pm:
Alex, you’re an idiot.
“Creme ” is in fact an accepted spelling of the word ‘Cream’.
‘Cream’ (the English spelling) is derived from the French “Crème”, a term borrowed and often used as is in culinary contexts, hence ‘Crème Puff’.
Remove your head from your ass, then speak.
And to those of you whining about why the head-to-head tiebreaker should take precedence, you should be mad at Mack Brown, not OU. He voted for the Big XII system to be as it is, yet now that it doesn’t work in his favor he says it’s corrupt. (So by virtue of the Transitive property, Mack Brown = corrupt, according to his own statement.)
Hypocrite.
23Runlots on Dec 8, 2008 at 4:12 pm:
Alex, I agree that OU-UT are two of the best teams in the country and wish they could play for the championship game. Regarding non-conference scheduling, certainly Chattanooga is a powder puff team (Note, to avoid your public spelling ridicule I deftly replaced the C word with powder.) And who could know that Cinncinatti would be decent this year? (With one degree from TCU, I claim with bias that TCU is typically fairly good, sometimes near the bottom of the top 20.) But Alex, why would you hope OU gets murdered by FL? That is how some UT fans get reputations as whiners. I am not saying you are a whiner, just that some people might interpret that as sour grapes from a whiner. (To be honest, I am not even certain I spelled whiner correctly.) Alex, I would never hope UT gets beat by a non-conference foe. I would never want any Big XII team to lose to a non-conference team.
Donald, I agree with you too. Support your team first, then the conference.
May all Big XII teams win their bowl games! Merry Christmas to all.

So which team do you pick to represent the Big XII? Team A / Team B
Team A
+10 – vs. Oklahoma (Neutral)
+4 – vs. Oklahoma State (Home)
-6 – vs. Texas Tech (Away)
+25 – vs. Missouri (Home)
Total Point Differential = +33
Team B
-10 – vs. Texas (Neutral)
+44 – vs. Texas Tech (Home)
+20 – vs. Oklahoma State (Away)
+41 – vs. Missouri (Neutral)

Team A vs. Team B = ( 62 ) Points

No matter who is in the title game, there are several teams who have a beef about it. The only solution is to hit the BCS where it hurts, in the pocketbook. The TV contracts are worth millions, but if those fans of the one or zero loss teams would refuse to watch the championship game, the ratings would dive. But that means all you sports junkies from Texas, Pennsylvania, California, Utah, Idaho, Alabama and the fans of those teams all around the country have to TURN the CHANNEL that night and watch something else. That is the only way to drive college football into modern times and determine the champion on the field.

So at the end of the day you cant even win all your games. Cream puff schedules are doled out all over the country including the great OKLAHOMA, I am sure Washington and Chattanooga really tested you guys, not to mention the Big XII north teams you played cause that is a power of a division. 35gabbo on Dec 8, 2008 at 7:43 pm:
Couple of quick follow up points….
1) Notice how Mack Brown, proponent of the ‘head to head trumps all’ lobbying effort rated Tech 8th on his final Coaches Poll ballot. Nice display of hypocrisy.
2) For all the comments about UT-Chata on OU’s schedule – that game as a last minute replacement due to another D1 school dropping out. There is no comparison between OU’s recent and upcoming non-conference schedule compared to Texas.
OU has signed home and homes upcoming with LSU, Florida State, Notre Dame and Tennessee. The are finishing the road end of the H&H at Maimi next year.
All of these were signed a few years ago. Unfortunately some of thoes teams have dropped off (sort of like Washington this year), but the point is that OU is seeking tough non-conference opponents.
Mack came out of after the OSU H&H and openly stated he didn’t see the value in scheduling tough NC opponents. Other than an upcoming series with UCLA, you’ll continue see all creampuffs on the Texas NC schedule.

I live in North Carolina (not a UNC alum of any sort), and decided to dislike Texas after they hired the UNC coach away DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON (the bowl game was yet to be played, so it was in the middle of the season). Yes – the antagonism was unjustly focused on Texas because that is the way big schools get their coaches – hire them from lesser colleges IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE STILL UNDER CONTRACT. (Sorry, dang caps-lock keeps getting stuck…) Mack Brown has not been the only scum-sucking-sumbich to do this, nor has Texas been the only sub-humanoid-slug-filled college to snipe a coach IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON. But, I just can’t help how I feel.

Wow, so much to say and so little time. First, to Colin in Tampa…2 of the four teams you mentioned(OU’s non-conference) are BCS top 12 teams but yeah I could see where that’s weak(that’s sarcasm..I know Floridians are pretty slow on the uptake). Second, to TrojanFan…we would much rather be arguing over whose neck is “more red” than which dude’s ass to stick it in!(that’s a gay joke, Colin) High school teams in both OK and TX would wipe their ass with the majority of the Pac-10. Lastly, Texas fans are doing what they do best which is bitch and moan about anything. Every argument that Texas makes(which is really only one) is completely hypocritical and easily discredited. Boomer Sooner…Fuck Texas!! Have fun in Arizona…we’ll send you a post card from the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!! Woah! Has anyone here affected the opinion of anyone else with his eloquence and logic. Allow me to attempt to do so. Does anyone really believe that football fans who aren’t Longhorny wanted to see a Texas-Missouri rematch. Apart from arguments about which team is superior, Oklahoma plays a much more entertaining style of football. The offense is upbeat and dominating, and the defense and special teams allow just enough scoring to add interest to the game. The world wanted to see OU play the Big XII Championship, even if they bought into Mack Brown’s simplified argument about why his team should play.
Lopati, it’s bad form to call someone stupid while using poor grammar. When you dislike living somewhere it’s a misfortune, not an “unfortune.”

Guess the Rose Bowl only qualifies as a BCS game when Vince “One Game Wonder” Young is there for his Andy Warhol moment. USC pounds Texass by 3 touchdowns if the bee doesn’t hit the side of the jar that is Vince’s skull during that game. By the way, which shorthorn cry-baby mental institution has he checked into since he cratered and Kerry Collins took his job? Still on suicide watch?

Mississippi beat Florida
Florida will beat Oklahoma for the Championship.
Tech will beat Mississippi in their bowl game.
So Tech = National Champions right? They beat the team that beat Florida.
See? All this arguing is stupid. Things worked out how they did, and the rules were played the way the Big 12 agreed. Mack can “whine” and lobby but he does have a point. I am Sooner born and Sooner bred. My wife got a job in Austin 11 years ago and we have been here the entire Stoops/Brown era. This is the first year I actually liked the UT team as opposed to just respecting the talent. Colt McCoy said it, UT should have played a better game in Lubbock, top to bottom. They came out flat and the end result is today’s debacle. The heart, leadership, and unity of this Longhorn team, were above reproach. They came out and lost a game they shouldn’t have. (Sound familiar Sooner Nation?) Of course the Boise State game only occurs because UT lost to A+M that year, (a game they shouldn’t have lost) and OU went to the Big 12 title game to play Colorado. I believe Texas beat both representatives that year also. Last year A+M won again, and OU lost to West Virginia. so that makes 3 years in a row UT lost to inferior opponents and OU won the Big 12. Bob Stoops is 2-4 (not 1-5) in BCS games. Mack is 2-0, so was Stoops once. Yes there has been too much crying (on both sides) It’s over, hopefully OU will make us all proud and pound down the vaunted Florida defense that gave up a 100 yd rusher and receiver to Alabama. BOOMER SOONER… GO BIG 12, (but if UT loses I will laugh).

CalHorn, I’m glad you agree with me that Mack’s argument is simplified. The argument becomes much more complex when you have to consider that the Big XII South ended in a three-way tie (not 2-way as Mack would like to think). I really don’t blame Mack for wanting to forget about Texas Tech.
The complex argument requires consideration of margin of victory among common opponents (OU wins), strength of scedule (OU wins), national voters opinions (OU wins), and unbiased computer assesment (OU wins). Head to head the three teams that tied are all 1-1. Head to head, Texas is ahead of OU, Tech is ahed of Texas, and OU is ahead of Tech.
If Oklahoma had only beaten Tech by a last second field goal, or lost to OSU, Texas would have no argument to make. But because OU improved during the season and dominated the teams Texas had trouble with, we shouldn’t punish OU. In a three-way tie, OU deserves what it got. Now live with it.

Thanks, Hypocrite!
He is correct Alex. In reality, creme-puff could actually be liguistically spelled as either Cream or crème, your choice, you puff.
You commented correctly that “out-of-conference schedules are made years in advance. A few years ago, could you really tell me that TCU or Cincinnati was going to be better than Arkansas?”
Can you spell Florida-Atlantic, dipshit?

I have seen that particular image with those words on it way before it was shown on TV during the BIg XII game. I had seen it in passing about a year or two ago (I think right after OU won the OU/UT game in 2007, and it was so great then. But nothing tops seeing at on TV last Saturday. My mom, who lives in San Antonio, was watching the game and called me laughing hysterically because she thought it was so funny.

as neither a texas or oklahoma fan ( i don’t even know why people from oklahoma try to get in arguments with texas fans. all texas fans have to say is you got a degree from oklahoma which is almost like a community college degree. besides that they could also say you went to college in norman. i bet that was a lot of fun…so much to do there

USC fans need to shut that mouth because year in and year out you find a way to lose to a very subpar PAC 10 team (standord, osu) that’s sad! Florida sucks OU will roll!!! Check out my texas crybaby tshirts they are funny….www.bashemtees.com

All of these are very good arguments, but you must remember that this is not suppossed to be the year for Texas. Our year is reserved for next year. So you enjoy the Miami sun. I think i will come to Dallas next year with a sign of Sam Bradford crying saying “but…but…we’re Oklahoma”
