Penn State at Ohio State Brought to You By Obama

The Horseshoe is playing host to two important battles on Saturday night.  To college football fans its obvious the contest between the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions will most likely determine the Big Ten Champion and the conference’ BCS representative.  The game is even more important to Penn State who is a favorite to play in the National Championship game. The more significant warfare will take place between Senators John McCain and Barack Obama during those oh so annoying TV timeouts. The prize at stake are the votes of Saturday couch potatoes (middle aged males) in the swing states of Ohio and Pennsylvania.

According to Business Week

Senator Obama (D-Ill.), who raised $150 million in the month of September and may do nearly as well in October, will dominate the game’s broadcast in Pennsylvania, according to Paul Roda, national sales manager of Harrisburg (Pa.) ABC affiliate WHTM. “There will be a lot of Obama, and more politics than any other single category, I believe,” says Roda. It’s the same story for the ABC affiliates in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio, where the two candidates are battling for every vote.

It sounds like betting on Obama and his huge war-chest is where the easy money is at.  However, a change I could’ve believed in would have been Obama simply sponsoring the game by buying up all the TV spots and doing away with the commercials entirely.
