I read a blog post fellating the 2008 Clemson Tigers.
In my opinion the Clemson Tigers have a great shot to win all of their games and possibly win a national title in the 2008 season.
I’ve read also read that the media have voted the Tigers preseason ACC Champions and Cullen Harper as preseason MVP. Wow, that is all well and good but their fucking head coach is still Tommy Bowden. Tommy puts a hex on winning football games. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was lurking the Patriot’s sidelines at the Super Bowl. Witches and Wizards could liquefy and bottle his ass up as an anti-win potion.
- Here is how I foresee the Clemson season unfolding…
- Alabama – Clemson pulls away from a close game flexing their muscle.
- Citadel – Easy blowout win
- North Carolina State – Cullen Harper has a big game in a win against an over-hyped opponent.
- South Carolina State – Easy blowout win.
- Maryland – Another win against an over-hyped opponent. Clemson moves to 5-0 and National Title talk begins.
- at Wake Forest – First road game and a huge upset at the hands of the Demon Deacon
- Georgia Tech – The most interesting thing about this game is whether or not Paul Johnson is still running the option.
- at Boston College – Clemson squeaks out a victory.
- at Florida State – Florida State takes the Tigers behind the woodshed for a 28+ point paddlin’.
- Duke – Clemson returns the FSU favor to whipping boy Duke.
- at Virginia -Easy blowout win.
- South Carolina – In a chance to save the season Clemson gets Fun-n-Gunned out the stadium.
2008 Record 9-3
Much like 2008 Clemson Tigers, Howard’s rock and “Running Down the Hill” are also vastly overrated.
“When Clemson players rub that rock and run down the hill, it’s the most exciting 25 seconds in college football.” –Brent Musburger (Asshole), ABC Sports
I prefer watching my offense take a knee to tick the final 25 seconds off the game clock due to my explosive offense and smothering defense, not because we rubbed a rock.

Nothing worse than a Clemson redneck. Kill them all.

You are insane!! Clemson will prove to be the power house they are expected to be this year. Wake always plays us tough on their soil, but they will not win. FSU will NOT blow them out. SC will lose in Death Valley. Clemson has fucked up in the past, but this will be the best year for Clemson since 1981. You must be an FSU guy!

First off I am a Virginia Tech guy. Second, what other than you being a narrowed minded fan makes you think (1) Clemson is a powerhouse and (2) they will get over the hump? I really hope VT gets the chance to play them for the ACC Championship.

(1)Clemson is a powerhouse with its returning backfielders, the #1 WR in the ACC, and a quarterback that came out and proved that he can run the team and gave Matt Ryan a run for his money. The only question is the OL, and LB’s. There are a couple 4 star prospects to fit into the OL. Granted, they haven’t played college ball yet. Our DE’s (Sapp and Bowers) will dominate the opposing QB’s and RB’s. Clemson is returning a TON of starters that have already proven themselves. (2) With the schedule, there are only a couple of games that worry me. Wake and FSU(of course). They can get over the hump IF they stay healthy. I have faith in Tommy Bowden, even though he has had problems in the past. How can you not feel confident in this years Clemson team? VT will be okay and if they meet in the ACC Championship it will be a close one with Clemson on top. VT ALWAYS plays them tough. We just have to stop your special teams.

I can’t vouch for national title aspirations, but Clemson has more talent than any other ACC team this year, by far. They’ve been talented for years, despite Tommy Bowden’s missteps. And as Spain’s Euro 2008 victory shows, talent will always trump bad coaching eventually. With the lull that the ACC is currently in this year, it’s by far the best chance Clemson will get in the foreseeable future.

Also, VT can’t book their ticket to Tampa just yet. Not if my team has anything to say about it
7cgb on Jul 31, 2008 at 12:12 pm:
Digital Headbutt you are contradicting yourself on one hand you say talent with trump coaching (which is a totally wrong look at Giants v Patriots) and then you claim UNC (with less talent) will beat VT…
8Digital Headbutt on Jul 31, 2008 at 1:25 pm:
I didn’t say it would happen. I said don’t book your ticket to Tampa just yet. Virginia Tech lost a lot of key players from last year, and the Coastal is wide, wide open. Don’t shut the door on Clemson just because of Tommy Bowden.
I guess my point is…lighten up.
9cgb on Jul 31, 2008 at 1:35 pm:
Yeah but you said talent will always trump coaching. VT has more talent then UNC, although I think UNC will be very respectable this year.
10Digital Headbutt on Jul 31, 2008 at 1:42 pm:
I said that talent will trump BAD coaching. Good coaching enhances talent, which I think is the case for both UNC and VT this season. Tech is still the favorites in the coastal, don’t get me wrong. But you’re in for a tough game on September 20th.

Looks like its about that time again! Looking forward to another hilarious fall with CGB.
Go VT!

@Kevin:
I myself over the past 5 years or so have enjoyed watching the trainwreck of overratedness that is Clemson football. All talent, no coaching, no fight in the team at all. Do something of note and that perception will change, until then its business as usual for Tammy and the boys.
