Arkansas fans I hate to break it to you, but your football program just isn’t relevant anymore. The once proud Razorbacks are nothing more than that hot girl from your (insert college class). You know the type of girl I’m talking about. That one you see out at a party and you flirt with only to make your girlfriend jealous and want you more. You know from the outside onlookers are thinking upgrade, but only you know the baggage that comes along with her. Perhaps she smells bad, talks too much or you saw the bottle of Valtrex fall out of her purse. Either way you know you would never “go there”, but your girlfriend doesn’t.
Herpes girl is Arkansas football. No respected coach wants the job. However, it is an SEC school, that can recruit and has money. It looks like a great opportunity, but the rabid fan-base can brick a coach’s career and Arkansas will never be better than Alabama, Auburn or LSU. Tommy Tubberville, Tommy Bowden and Jim Grobe all knew this. But they all said fuck her, let’s try for a raise. Their “interest” in the job got their schools to extend their contracts and raise their salary. It worked out well for everyone, except Arkansas.

Well put. Arkansas has totally fucked themselves over with all the high-school (literall) drama shit. Now that they let Houston Nutt walk without gaurenteeing themselves he would leave the conference, he will raid the state of their best players and use the fan base that ran him off against the university. Arkansas will be struggling to stay out of the basement for years because of this debacle. Houston Nutt was way better than what anything Arkansas rightfully thought they could replace him with. Have fun with stupid fucking Gus Malzahn as your HC/OC and curling up in the SEC basement for years to come until another home state Hog loving head coach comes back along. Stupid Pig fans.

@TomahawkFlop - You may be the most sensible Arkansas fan ever. I agree. I don’t know who the administration thought they were going to bring in that was better than Nutt. Since three of the bigger, but not elite coaches have turned them down they are going to have to look at even more of a no named coach unless they pull Spurrier or Butch Davis.
The biggest strike against Nutt was he never had the complete season. He won some huge games and had great teams, but he never took home a SEC Championship.

Minor nitpick: Jim Grobe did not get a raise from Wake Forest after turning down Arkansas. It’s been reported that the assistants will likely get raises, but there is no change to Grobe’s contract in dollars or years.

@cgb - Exactly. What these ridiculous “fans” fail to realize is that getting there is better than the alternative of never sniffing a championship, ala danny ford and jack crowe post Ken Hatfield, who must know exactly what Nutt is feeling after being run off (at least he went to Rice). Granted Nutt was 0-3 in SEC championship games, but if it weren’t for two crazy fumbles (Stoerner in ‘98 and Fish in ‘06), the Hogs could have easily been in a national championship game. And as for recruiting, say goodbye to the Darren McFadden’s of the state staying home. Tuberville, Nutt, and Saban will now own UofA’s face trying to keep those superstars home. Ridiculous and just plain terrible. You get what you ask for, so instead of bitching about years to come of 4-7, 5-6 and the occassional 6-5 remember what it was like when you complained about 8-4 and beating #1 on the road.
