The Next Nebraska Coach Part I

It is a foregone conclusion that Nebraska’s interim athletic director Tom Osborne will fire current head football coach Bill Callahan. It is absolute bullshit that Osborne will consider keeping Callahan as head coach based on the final five games of the season. It must have chapped Oz’ ass to watch Callahan’s mediocre passing attack and high school defense go 22-15. The only reason why he is making such a statement is to get Callahan’s hopes up before he crushes them and in turn expels him from coaching. Who then will be the next Nebraska coach? Periodically, throughout the rest of the reason we will try to answer that question.

Potential Candidate: Joe Kines

Overall Record: 3-7-1

Previous Head Coaching Experience: 1992 Arkansas

Strengths: Being able to get the ball into the end zone. Having a magnificent personality.

Weaknesses: Not being able to stop that inside trap. Making a jerking off motion during his only recorded interview.

Offensive Philosophy: Averaging 3.34 yards per carry so his team can reach the line to gain every third play. Nothing more, nothing less.

Defensive Philosophy: Defensive football starts and ends with the tackles. If they can shed trap blocks and play gap control football that will free up other positions to make plays.

I heard that Turner Gill, the current University of Buffalo coach and ex Nebraska quarterback, is someone Osbourne would really be interested in. People say that Osbourne doesn’t have the energy etc to coach again but through Gill, he can have a lot of his philosophies and style implemented in the team. So in a sense, Gill could be his robot while Osbourne calls a lot of the big shots from above.
