- LSU – Attention Coaches and AP voters, LSU lost on the road in triple over time to a Top 25 team. The Tigers have three wins over the Top 25 and I don’t think a close loss to a talented Kentucky team is enough to drop them from the top spot. Would anyone bet on OSU, South Florida or Boston College (laugh) over the Tigers on a neutral field? No they wouldn’t.
- South Florida – Their road to undefeated and the National Championship is very manageable: @Rutgers, @Uconn, Cincy, @Cuse, Louisville, @Pitt.
- Oklahoma – As the season progresses so will their quality wins compared to South Florida. The Colorado loss looks a lot worse than it did last week.
- South Carolina – Gutted out a nice win against UNC.
- Kentucky – I had to rank them behind USC, but they will jump up if they can take out Florida this week.
- Ohio State – Undefeated means something, but they need some quality wins. Simon put it best. What do you know about Ohio State? Nothing.
- Cal – What was Tedford thinking not getting his field goal unit on the field at the end of the game?!
- Oregon – If only the Cal game went their way.
- Florida – They move into the rankings after defeating bye week university.
- Boston College – 7-0 is impressive against even against sub par competition, but they need to win at Blacksburg to be considered legit.

quite possibly the most rational analysis that i have read/heard regarding the LSU loss.

I don’t think that LSU should keep their top spot after a loss, even if it was in triple overtime to a top 25 team. The reason being, a loss is a loss. If you set precedents saying X team can lose to Y team and by less than 5 points to keep their spot, it kind of diminishes the magnitude of a loss. I definitely believe that LSU is far superior than South Florida and Boston College. However, the rankings (as stupid as this sounds) really don’t go by who’s a better team. They go by wins and losses and how sexy your resume is. A loss, whether it was to a top 25 or not, blemishes a #1 ranked team’s resume. I don’t think anyone believes that Arizona St. can beat Florida on a neutral field, but they’re ranked ahead because they have 0 losses compared to 2. If these rankings were done similar to power rankings, where you basically set it up saying “Okay this team is definitely better than this one because they would whoop them on a neutral field..” then the rankings would look different all together, with LSU being at the top and Florida being somewhere in the top 5 instead of 14.
As far as South Florida goes, I like the attitude of their head coach but I can’t see this team winning out. History is against them as well. Cinderella teams work in NCAA basketball, not so much in College Football. The further along their undefeated streak goes, the greater the pressure will be and I don’t think they’ll be able to handle it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they lost to Rutgers and I wouldn’t be surprised if they lost to someone like Uconn to be honest.
I agree with pretty much everything else… Ohio State is kind of in the same boat as Boston College as far as not beating anyone of significance yet. Good stuff man.

I have gone to every USF home football game this year and they are a solid team, but they will lose this Thursday at Rutgers. The short week and being away will prove too much for USF.
