The funny thing too, is that Michigan still got tons of respect even though they got wallopped in the Rose Bowl. The other thing is that the Big Ten is in general overrated this year, Penn St looks legit, but they havent played a decent team yet, Wisconsin almost stumbled early and Ohio St is quite the yawner.

The ACC wasnt ranked all that well either this year. VT and FSU were high. Ga Tech, BC, and Clemson should have been in the polls but werent.

The SEC gets automatic rankings every year, and deservedly so, but sometimes to the wrong teams. Auburn wasnt a top 25 team, neither was Tenn or Georgia. On the other hand, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Alabama look like they should have been.

I would like to see them hold off on ranking teams pre season, but you need rankings as a reference point. I guess if they werent so scared to move teams around alot it wouldnt be that bad. But then again thats the fun of college football; the upsets. When teams lose games they arent supposed and when someone comes up with a huge win as an underdog. In the NFL they say any team can win on any given Sunday, which makes it competitive, exciting and fun to watch for some people. I think that when you flip around on Sat morning and afternoon and see a 1-AA beating the number 5 team in the country thats much more exciting. Id say either rank em preseason and move them around based on how they play, or hold off until like week 3 when most of the cupcake home openers are over.

Good point, Mikey. I remember thinking when looking over SI's preseason rankings, "no, no, no, HELL no, eh maybe, no, no, yeah right, ok that's true, no, hahahahaha, no, no, are they serious?, no, no". The preseason poll will get shaken up for sure. Blame it on Michigan!

Yeah, that was very surprising. It wasn't like it was even a close game that ended with a clock beating field goal. And you're right alot of upsets and near upsets this year. It will be interesting to look back at the end of the season and compare pre-season polls to the end of season polls.

I am still speechless about UCLA getting manhandled. Unbelievable. Year of the upset I guess.
