Why is the Florida State offense still putrid? I thought FSU made all the right moves this off-season. They dumped Jeff Bowden, five other assistants and brought in a new offensive staff including coordinator Jimbo Fisher. Yet they could only manage 256 yards of offense that included a first half with only one first down and a dogging of their defense. Drew Weatherford did his best Sean Glennon impression looking like a chicken with his head cut off in the pocket. When ESPN panned out to Show Xavier Lee you could read the “why the fuck am I not starting” look on his face. De’ Cody Fagg (a supposed senior leader) did his best to drop every 3rd down pass thrown his way. The offensive line looked absolutely awful and got manhandled by a four man front all day long. Before the game I thought FSU would head into a showdown against VT undefeated and ranked in the Top 10. I now realize this could be another long season for Nole fans.

Yeah FSU losing in the first week was a major blow for VT fans who were banking on a showdown with a top 10 team incase of a loss to LSU. Now, Clemson will most likely be undefeated going into the matchup with tech but wont be ranked any higher than 17 or 18. It would have been beast for VT to have a win (or a close loss) to 2nd ranked LSU and a victory over top 10, undefeated FSU but that obviously won’t be happening. Drew Weatherford is pretty terrible and you’re on point about how he looked exactly like Glennon.

If we go undefeated I think everything will take care of itself. However, right now we look like a 2-3 loss team.

If we analyze this carefully, I believe VT still has a chance to play a ranked FSU. Lets be honest, Clemson played like a top 25 team. The new polls rewarded them for it too. In hindsight FSU was ranked high, but with the talent they had, I cant blame people for voting for them. I can, however, blame the coaching staff at FSU for not utilizing that talent, and coming in with a crappy game plan. All that aside, if FSU fixes whats wrong with them, they can still get back into the rankings. Wins against Bama, Miami, and BC would make a strong agruement for FSU to be a top 15 team. I know its not top 10 as Hokie fans were hoping, but I dont think they need to be. If VT can either upset LSU or play them close, as well as beat now 25 Clemson, and now 21 Ga Tech, both of which are away, before the showdown against FSU they well already have a strong case for themselves. Top it off with a win vs Miami and you are looking at BCS. It may seem daunting now, but I really think VT has enough raw talent to get the job done. As the season wanes on, and the Hokies mature with experience we will see just how talented they really are. But it all starts this Sat, with an upset special against the Bayou Bitches.
